Affordable Dental Implants in Los Angeles
Many of the new patients we see who have complete dentures are unhappy. The dentures don’t fit right, their mouth is frequently sore, they may worry about them coming loose at embarrassing times, and they can’t chew well. Many of these people would love to have dental implants but they fear that will be out of range of their budget.
Los Angeles dentist Dr. Robert Thein tries hard to provide affordable dental implants. He keeps his fees reasonable, and he will offer you a variety of options, and has payment plans available. While he provides world-class care for complex cases involving full-mouth dental implant reconstruction, he understands that this level of care doesn’t fit everyone’s budget. And he and his staff encourage patients to ask questions about fees and to be sure that they completely understand his treatment plans.
Affordable Dental Implants Options
There are two possible options for affordable dental implants treatment.
One is with the use of mini implants. Mini implants are 1/3 the diameter of standard fixtures. The smaller diameter means that the surgery is easier, the healing is faster, and all of this saves on the costs. The cost is approximately half of what standard fixtures would be. But dentists need to be very careful in using these mini implants, because they are not as strong, and proper placement is important to treatment that lasts.
A second option is snap-on dentures. The cost of dental implants is proportional to the number of implants being placed. If you are interested in affordable treatment, be careful about price shopping. Quality implant fixtures are expensive. There are cheap alternatives, but they will end up costing more in the long run.
A Warning about Affordable Dental Implants
Many people call around looking for the lowest price for dental implants. People have limitations to their budget, so this is understandable. But you need to beware. There are many things that can go wrong with this treatment, and the bad thing is that you won’t know anything is wrong until several years after the treatment is finished. The fixtures may become loose or infected. Sometimes the implants simply fall out. If this happens to you, what you thought was affordable is suddenly going to become very expensive. See our page on dental implant failure to learn about the things that can go wrong. Beware, especially, of the office offering the lowest fee. The best way to lower fees is to cut corners with treatment. And this can be very tempting for a dentist because the consequences may not be apparent to the patient until several years down the road.
Placing fewer dental implants, however, is a reasonable way to limit the cost and still receive quality treatment. A denture can be stabilized pretty well by simply placing two dental implants as shown in the photographs on the right.
The denture then has these snaps placed in it. There are flexible O-rings placed in the snaps, and this holds the denture in the mouth.
And here is the satisfied patient, wearing the snap-on denture pictured above. His lower denture is now secure, and the dental implants used to secure it were very affordable. He can eat steaks or pretty much anything he wants, and doesn’t have the worry of loose teeth.
